So you just opened up your own closet on Poshmark and you have great items, excellent photos, and you’ve been sharing endlessly; but your follower numbers just don’t go up. What do you do? I recently got a comment on Poshmark about how I gained so many followers. Thus, the inspiration for this article was born.
I don’t really believe I have that many followers. I mean, I see other Poshers with over 100k to more than a million followers, and I’m all like, WOW! But let’s be realistic, just because you just started, doesn’t mean you can’t gain a flood of followers. One of the easiest ways is to become a Suggested User. Of course, you have to know all about knowing how to be a Suggested User to become one, but even if you are not (or if you are still working on becoming one) there are still some ways to boost the number of followers for your Poshmark closet. In fact, there IS such a thing as the social network. Yes, I’m talking about Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. If you already have these accounts, then perhaps you haven’t opened up your mind to how to use them to your advantage. They can help bring in more followers, and maybe even help create new Poshers just because they want to buy your item. It’s true!
-

- Share your closet items during peak hours. This is usually during lunchtime when people have a break from work. Then there’s also the time when people get home from work and school (from 4pm-9pm). Sharing in the morning is when people are either going to work or school and they’re too busy to look at Poshmark (unless they’re checking to see if they’ve sold anything overnight). Thus, save your morning time for yoga.
- Share during parties regardless of time. Unlike sharing your closet to the general feed during specific times, sharing to parties actually leaves your shares for permanent exposure…at least until the party is taken off to make room for recent ones. For example, if you share your sweaters during a Sweater Weather Party, people looking to buy sweaters will click on this party to browse. What you’ve shared will be on there. Tip: try sharing close to when the party is about to end so that your shares are one of the first ones people will see (not everyone scrolls down for hours).
- Participate in Parties! Really, you’d be surprised. Sometimes showing your support and love for women who have host picks can lead to another Posher clicking on your profile photo just to see what you’ve got. Plus, you can make new friends that may share your closet as you share theirs.
- Sharing is caring. Share other closets. If you haven’t figured this out by now, there is a chain reaction when you share other people’s closets. For instance, I share one person’s closet by five or ten items, and the favor is returned with either the same amount of shares or more. Why is this good? They will have followers you don’t have which means that your items are exposed to other people’s feed that you don’t have as followers.
- Congratulate Poshers on being Co-Hosts. We all have those notifications of an upcoming party later in the day. Usually the last party of the day is the one with Co-Hosts from our own Poshmark community. By congratulating them and sharing their closet, it boosts up your probability of that Co-Host looking at your closet for potential host picks which will in turn give you more exposure and followers if one of your items is featured during a party.

- Who doesn’t have Facebook? Ok, so there’s still people out there who haven’t discovered it or that have deleted their accounts because they don’t like it, but I’m pretty sure Facebook would have disappeared by now if no one used it. Therefore, you can share or “announce” you’re selling something on Poshmark through Facebook. You just never know. Maybe an aunt, cousin, or friend will be interested in buying that authentic Michael Kors bag you haven’t been using.
- Join a Poshmark community page. Yes, there are several! This is the place where women from Poshmark get together to talk about anything related to Poshmark and not. What does that mean? Making friendships. Why is that good? They will follow your closet because
they will know you. Plus, the best thing is that you will be able to relate to them in different ways and build lasting friendships. Who knows, maybe you can get to meet them during a Posh Fest!

- Impressive photos that call for attention. For those who don’t know what Instagram is, it’s basically another form of social networking. Unlike Facebook that allows you to post statuses, everything on Instagram is photo or mini video based. If you already have it, you know what I’m talking about. Instagram is a great way to gain
followers on Poshmark because of the hashtags. Let’s say you post up a photo of you sporting a new necklace you have up for sale on Poshmark. Hashtag it #poshfind, #poshstyle, #for sale, etc. and you will receive likes. Make sure to include your closet user name in the photo or video description so that people can know who to look for on Poshmark. Great photos are a must. Your item will sell itself if you make it look fantastic!

- Customize your profile info. There is actually an option for you to put your website name in your profile. Yea, maybe you don’t have your own blog or website, but guess what? You can log on to your Poshmark account using a desktop, laptop, or simply by going to the Poshmark website in your mobile device. Once you do, copy and paste your URL address onto your Instagram website slot. Save it. Now refresh your app and see how your closet is now a website link in your profile that anyone can click on for instant viewing of your Poshmark closet!

- Pin Addicts! Anything I can think of, I can probably find it on Pinterest. The place where photos, articles, websites, etc. are “pinned” into category boards for others to discover. A place for you to gain Poshmark followers! You don’t need to take more photos, just use the photos in your closet. Yes, you can do that. Simply click on the
sharing button in any item in your closet and scroll down to find the icons for Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Click on Pinterest! Now you can share your item and label it for people to discover! Don’t get so worried about having to gain followers on Pinterest though. If you label your items on Pinterest strategically you can gain Pinterest followers or interests successfully Tip: share generously!

Labeling and Tagging
- What to Hashtag. I decided to put this as its own category because I believe it’s extremely important to know how to do it. For instance, when you share something on Instagram, you hashtag, right? Well think about what type of hashtags you need to use in order to attract the attention you need. If you take a photo of your wrist wearing a bracelet and then hashtag it #birthday, well only people who are looking at photos about birthdays and not really interested in buying the bracelet will look at it. In contrast, if you were to hashtag your bracelet photo with something like #forsale or #braceletsforsale…
well, I believe that is self-explanatory, haha. Don’t be afraid to add multiple hashtags in Instagram. The more the better! Attract different types of Instagram users that could be potential buyers. For instance, use hashtags like #fashion2015 or #armcandy (for bracelets). You get the drift, right? - Label it! When you are sharing your closet items to networks like Pinterest, you should make sure that you label your photos properly. Make sure that you label a “pin” according to what the photo represents. For instance, if I share an item from my closet, say a dress, I can label my pin as “Party dress” or “Plaid shift dress 2015”. Just think about what types of things you type to search for pins on Pinterest, and then apply that knowledge to how you should label your pins.

Hi, I am wondering was Poshmark means when they say a party’s showroom remains dynamic after it has ended. How do you share to a party once it is over? Thanks!

Hi! I’m soooo sorry about the late response. I took a very long break from my blog for personal reasons.
To answer your question, a party showroom can be dynamic in the sense that some items can get deleted by a seller or edited. I’m sure that by now those edits are automatically reflected on a party showroom so you shouldn’t worry too much about it. And to answer your last part question: no. You cannot share to a party once it’s over. Once the time frame is up, you cannot share to the party.
