My Journey: What’s my blog’s niche anyway?

Hi everyone! You’ve probably been skimming through my blog for some time now and you’re probably asking yourself what this girl is up to with her blog. Well, today I’m dedicating this post to answering some questions that you might have that are not noted in my About Me page.

Why did you start a blog?

The first time I decided I wanted to start a blog was the day I realized I was undergoing a really interesting journey as college student transforming into a teacher. I wanted to  share all my moments with my friends and family, but I have to admit that my conversations would get beyond boring. Thus, I would simply write down my experiences in one of the many journals I have here at home, but one day I decided that writing to myself was just not enough. I needed an audience. I wanted to put my experiences out there for others to give me feedback, or to simply use my knowledge for themselves. So, I thought to myself “why not start a blog?”

What inspired the content in your blog?

Like most students who are going to school to become teachers, I faced a lot of challenges; not just as a student, but as a student who is also a mother. I cannot tell you how many times I have Googled terms like “student teaching”, “how to go to college when you’re a mom”, “how to write a lesson plan for a secondary school classroom”, “how to study for the TExEs”, “how to keep sane as a student and mom”…the list goes on and on! During my search, I couldn’t really find exactly what I wanted and this really frustrated me. I began to generate ideas of what people should have already blogged about to help solve my dilemmas and I asked myself why nobody had done it yet. Perhaps there is someone out there who has and I just haven’t found their blog yet. Needless to say that I went through my hard times without dying, but experiencing them inspired me to just start my own blog.

What is your niche?

So what is my niche? Here’s my answer: I don’t know, or I don’t have one. For those of you who don’t know what a niche is, it is basically the focused content of a blog. My blog is just about my journey as a student at the university trying to become an English teacher. Ok, that’s a lie. LOL!  My niche isn’t as simple to label because unlike other niches (fashion, education, food, photography, fitness, beauty, video-gaming, etc.), my niche embodies several niches. Hence, the lifestyle niche as my closest label. I like to post about education, products that I trust, love, and support (such as Warby Parker in these posts: The Home Try-On Experience and 5 Clear-Framed Glasses You’ll Love ) photography, fashion, and anything else that fancies me. Yet, if you haven’t noticed already, I also blog about an app that I am apparently obsessed with, Poshmark. I discovered this a while back when I first returned to the university after a huge break from school, and ever since then I have used it to help me through college expenses. You can read more about this on my other post An Introduction to Poshmark or read one of my most popular blog posts: What You Should Know About Poshmark Income.

How long have you been blogging?

I have only been blogging for about a year (maybe less). My blog is pretty young, but I have great things planned for the future. For one, I plan to write posts about how I started school again, why I did it, and why I chose my current field. Then I want to share with you my journey as a student becoming a teacher, and hopefully this blog will mature into a teacher’s blog. This will include many things that I was unable to find online when I needed them such as the terms I searched for above. That’s not all, though. Because I also love fashion (primarily because I was probably a crazy artist in some past life), I also want to share some outfits that would correlate with a teaching career. The rest of my posts, like photography, artwork, and food, is all part of my lifestyle that anyone can enjoy as extra. I know that I lack some blogging experience, but I’m confident that with time I will gain the experience that I need for my blog to become successful; and by success I mean you having fun here!

So, thank you! I love that you are here my fellow readers and followers!

Much love always,

Mrs. Nayla

Hi! I'm Nayla Carrasco, the creative face and owner behind Mrs. Nayla. I love to read and write, travel, take pictures, set my kitchen, draw, and paint on canvas. As an English teacher, I like to research and share my knowledge about anything related to education and the world I see on social media and through my blog. When I'm not studying, teaching, painting, cooking, or capturing life's moments behind a camera lens, I'm busy spending time with my family.
